The holidays are fast approaching meaning another year will be coming to an end. Another year that I was unable to enjoy creating jewelry in my studio. In fact I finally accepted, as summer drew to a close, that I was not going to find time to create jewelry any time soon since I found myself immersed in caring for family. So I packed it up; reluctantly, tearing myself from each future project.
But it is there, waiting, one day to be rediscovered. In the meantime, I cherish every day I am given with my mother. No regrets!

Not quite yet
I have been in desperate need of some creative time. Still unable to get to my studio for some serious 'play' I did take an opportunity to whip up some bracelets using memory wire and beads I had laying around. Next year will be better!

Missing my studio time
It has been a long time now that my studio has been collecting dust. I miss it. Compliments on my jewelry make me miss it more but it is when the boutiques I visit ask about carrying my line that I yearn for those days I spent in the studio when time seemed to stand still as I lost myself in the creative process.
I have found myself doodling designs on the margins of my to-do lists. A sure sign that I need the peace that comes from doing what I love. But life is a journey through time and right now I am needed elsewhere. I knew that caring for my mother would be time consuming and that I could not do both. Not simultaneously. While I miss creating, my family always comes first. Always.
Patience. My time will come again. God willing.

Closed
I wish to announce at this time that the website for Silver By Fire, Inc. has been closed. While Yahoo may take a few days before it disappears we have stopped accepting any orders.
I have enjoyed the past few years of following this dream immensely but also look forward to seeing what else still lies ahead in my journey. I hope my creations have blessed those who have received them as I have been blessed in creating them.
This blog is not connected to the website and will remain open. I may post some photos of things I make here from time to time but they will not be for sale. There is nothing more exciting than new beginnings even when it means leaving other things behind.
God Bless

Internet Issues
Recently there were some internet outages in our area. Fortunately we were not one of those without internet however as they worked to repair it we did have to deal with the frustrations of intermittent signals which at times made connection impossible. If this caused you any inconvenience in contacting us we do apologize but a call today from our provider gave assurances that repairs have been completed and there should not be any further interruptions.

What does it say about you?

Some time back there was a post at mixedmediaartist.com
asking "What does your work say about you?" I wondered how I would answer this. I decided my work does reflect me in many ways that might surprise people who think they know me. Why? Because of the variety. From the rigid yet graceful origami Pinwheel to the free flowing Sea glass to my love of nature's detail in the Avocado Leaves the differences are stark. Some people know me as a detail oriented craft person while others see me only from my cut and dried business encounters. Those closer to me also know me as a compassionate animal lover and gardener. I am not just one of those things. I am a combination of all of them. And I am learning and growing and changing every year.
So what does the jewelry you buy and wear say about you? Is some of it fun loving while other pieces make a bold statement of your beliefs? Are some pieces bright and colorful while others are shiny and classy? Aren't you all of those people?
That is the glory of the years. As time goes by each of us becomes a more multifaceted gem. At times life chisels away at us and other times it gently polishes. But each event in our life adds dimension to who we are. I believe that is a glorious statement and one to celebrate and declare. Let your jewelry speak as to who you are. People will listen with their eyes and with their hearts.
What are you wearing today and what is it saying to the people you meet?

Handcrafted in the USA

We received some interesting inquiries today. From China. Offering to make molds for the silver dove charms and offering their jewelry items for resale. Isn't it amazing how a such a simple thing can make you take a fresh look?
I realized that I need to add information on the website to some of the pieces like this dove letting customers know that this is not made from a mold. It is origami with silver. Many of the pieces are origami style and I will make a point of designating that.
Also ALL of the silver we sell is hand crafted in the United States of America. If it sounds like I am bragging, well, yes I guess I am because I am proud of it.
Occasionally molds are used on some pieces but most of the time we make the molds ourselves in order to have complete control over the jewelry process.
Look for more updates on the website coming soon.

Necklace update
The new Hanging Leaf Avocado Necklace has been such a hit that I have already sold out. You can still place an order though as I am working on more, there just could be some delays in filling the order. Things have been hectic here as the new pieces are selling before I can even get them posted on the website. Keep checking back as I will get them up as soon as I can.

Ironed out
Well, the technical difficulties have been ironed out now and we will be adding things gradually. First off is one of the sea glass necklaces. Each one is as unique as the piece of glass that nature has tumbled with such patience. Check it out under NEW at www.silver-byfire.com.
There is even a special price with the matching earrings. A one of a kind set for a one of a kind lady!

Still working with Yahoo
The internet issues turned out to be an area wide problem and were therefore resolved fairly rapidly, however we are continuing to work with Yahoo on website publishing difficulties. I cannot say how long this will take to resolve. This is certainly frustrating. So in the meantime here is a sneak peek at one of the new necklaces.

Technical difficulties
We are currently dealing with sporadic connectivity issues with our internet provider as well as technical difficulties with Yahoo in updating the website. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing and hope it will be corrected next week so we can start sharing some of the new designs.
In the meantime we wish everyone a safe weekend and wish to take this opportunity to invite anyone choosing to remember those who serve and have served our nation by joining in the moment of silence at 3 p.m. your local time on Monday. Without them, where would we be?

The work continues
This week we are getting the new roof. All the rain finally gave us a break and the fellows have plans to move everything back into the studio this weekend. Meanwhile the photography is complete except for one piece that I am still not happy with. But I have begun the cataloging and then will start updating the website so new things will be available soon. There is quite a variety so keep checking back. And just a side note - some of these pieces are one of a kind so you won't want to miss out!

Renovation
This next week we are starting some minor renovations in the studio that have been planned for some time. This could cause some minor delays in shipping but you will be notified if it does. It also means no special orders can be done at this time. We will be concentrating instead on photographing the new pieces that I have in the works. And we have some ideas for renovating the website as well. Must be spring fever! So check back in a week or two. I hope you will like what you find.

Stash
I like rocks. It probably goes back to going rock hounding with my folks. Dad cut and polished stones. Boy I wish he were still alive. We could really collaborate on some jewelry. But the next best thing is going to the gem and mineral shows and spending time with folks of like mind. I always come home with so many cabochons. And my sketchbooks are littered with ideas so I decided to spend some time in this area for awhile. Oh what fun. I have quite a stash of stones collected so sometimes I design around a stone and sometimes I select a stone for a particular design. I just love having options!
The layout and planning is more time consuming with these pieces but the results are worth it. I can't wait to get some photos done and share.

ahhhhhh
Everything is completed. The surgeries are completed. The repairs are completed. The insurance is completed (well almost). The family moving out is completed. And putting my house and studio back in order is completed. That means that I am happily back at work in the studio. I am so excited and have so many things in mind to make. But patience please as it takes me as long to get things photographed as it does to make the pieces. But it is so exciting to return to my studio! And with the surgeries completed I am regaining my energy and strength as well so - hi ho, hi ho - it's off to work I go!
